Audio uploads and processing

When you select a file, it can be previewed in your browser. We send it to our audio analysis service only when you choose to analyze chords or separate tracks. Audio is held in temporary processing files and removed after the request finishes. We do not provide user accounts or a library of personal audio uploads. You should upload only recordings you have the right to process.

If you use the phone-to-computer option, you scan a temporary pairing code to upload from your phone. The phone submits the recording to our audio analysis service, and the results appear on your paired computer. Pairing information expires automatically. Service interruptions may prevent analysis or transfer.

Microphone

Microphone chord identification processes sound locally in your browser. Microphone samples are not uploaded by that feature. You can stop listening at any time or revoke microphone access in your browser settings.

YouTube links and saved results

When you enter a YouTube link and request analysis, the video identifier and chord estimates may be cached for up to seven days in your browser or our shared result cache. Cached results can include a video title and channel name. We do not use this cache as a personal listening history. If you play an embedded video, YouTube may process data and set cookies under its own policies. See Google's privacy policy.

Google Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-FCQS1V91N1) to measure general site usage, such as page visits and interactions. With your consent, Google's analytics scripts may set first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_* to distinguish visits and generate usage statistics. Google may process analytics data according to its policies. These analytics cookies are optional and are not required to use the chord tools.

We do not load Google Analytics until you choose “Allow analytics”. You can change your choice below. Choosing “Reject analytics” stops future tracking on this site in your browser and attempts to clear its first-party Google Analytics cookies. You can also clear site cookies in your browser or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on where supported.

Browser storage and essential processing

Your browser may store temporary audio previews, recent chord results, and your analytics preference so the tools work as expected. Browser storage can be cleared through your device settings. We may receive technical request information, such as your IP address and device details, to deliver the website and protect its services.

Privacy rights in the EEA, UK, and California

If GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to or obtain a copy of personal data, and to withdraw consent for analytics at any time. You may also complain to your data protection authority. Our optional analytics processing is based on consent; essential website and security processing may have different lawful bases, depending on applicable law.

California residents may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know, correct, delete, and receive copies of personal information, and to opt out of sale or sharing where applicable, subject to legal exceptions. Our current site does not contain a targeted-advertising integration. Please use the analytics controls above to turn off optional tracking. We do not treat this policy as a waiver of any rights you may have under applicable law.

For product feedback, report an issue through our GitHub issue tracker. Do not post sensitive personal information in a public issue. An owner-verified private privacy-contact address will be published here when available. We will update this page when our processing practices change.
